Google AI Overviews

AI Overviews are Google's AI-generated summaries that appear above the traditional results for some queries, with links to the pages the summary drew on. Google describes them as using a customised version of Gemini to surface information alongside the links it cites.

In plain terms

It is the answer box at the top of Google, written by AI, with a short list of sources beside it.

Why it matters for B2B

For many B2B research queries the overview is the first and sometimes only thing a buyer reads. Being one of the linked sources puts you inside that read; being absent means competing for attention below it.

How to apply it

  • Answer the query directly in the first paragraph under a matching heading.
  • Keep the supporting evidence on the same page as the claim.
  • Ensure the page is crawlable and renders without client-side gating.
