Answer Sentiment
Answer sentiment is the positive, neutral or negative framing an AI response applies to a brand. Reliable analysis requires reading the surrounding claim rather than scoring the brand name alone, because a mention can appear in a warning, limitation or unfavorable comparison.
In plain terms
It describes whether AI talks about a brand favorably, neutrally or negatively.
Why it matters
Visibility without context can mislead. A frequently mentioned brand may be associated with a weakness that reduces consideration.
How to apply it
- Define sentiment labels and examples before scoring.
- Review the sentence and nearby qualification.
- Track recurring negative claims back to their sources.
Example
An assistant names a platform often but repeatedly warns that it is expensive for small teams, creating high mention visibility with mixed sentiment.

Ranking is no longer enough
You need to be cited, mentioned, and recommended.
Being cited, mentioned, and recommended are three different outcomes, and most brands only ever achieve the first one. Ranking is no longer enough because AI engines answer buyers directly and name only a short list of vendors as the recommendation — everyone else is cited in passing, if at all. Get a free AI Visibility Report to see exactly where your brand appears today across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot, where competitors are winning the recommendation instead, and what's keeping you from moving up the shortlist.
