Glossary
Prompt Clustering
Prompt clustering groups buyer prompts by shared meaning, intent or expected answer rather than exact wording. It reduces duplicate measurement and reveals the themes where a brand is consistently visible or absent across many variations of the same underlying question.
In plain terms
It puts similar questions into useful groups so patterns are easier to see.
Why it matters
A single prompt is noisy. Cluster-level performance shows whether a visibility gap is systematic enough to act on.
How to apply it
- Cluster by buyer task and funnel stage.
- Keep representative prompts from each distinct wording pattern.
- Report results by cluster as well as individual prompt.
Example
Twenty cybersecurity questions may form clusters for compliance, threat detection, vendor comparison and implementation, each with different visibility leaders.

Ranking is no longer enough
You need to be cited, mentioned, and recommended.
Being cited, mentioned, and recommended are three different outcomes, and most brands only ever achieve the first one. Ranking is no longer enough because AI engines answer buyers directly and name only a short list of vendors as the recommendation — everyone else is cited in passing, if at all. Get a free AI Visibility Report to see exactly where your brand appears today across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot, where competitors are winning the recommendation instead, and what's keeping you from moving up the shortlist.
